Parenting, you’re doing it right.

I can only hope to be this type of parent.

These parents make my heart melt

That last one really got me. That’s such a good idea, and bless his dad for wanting his son to not feel left out. All his friends were probably like “Look at all my candy” and Fletcher was like “LOOK AT ALL MY TOYS HAHA I GOT TOYS”

This is my Juju. I got him when I was 13, when I didn’t know about how pet stores get their birds. When he was 10 years old, he developed testicular cancer. His beak grew faster than he could keep up with, his cere turned brown, and he spent most of his day sleeping. I took him to my avian vet, who started him on lupron treatments. For 8 months went every month for the treatments, and every two weeks to trim his beak.
Someone asked “Why? You can get another one from PetCo for $15.”
Why? Because this living creature did not choose to come live in my home. He didn’t choose to be the product of irresponsible breeding for profit. He didn’t choose to be the descendent of birds caught and removed from their wild home.
Because I and other humans made those choices for him, it’s our responsibility to provide the best care and life possible. And this tiny bird had a huge soul and gave so much affection in return.
By the way, the treatments worked. The cancer disappeared and he lived for another three happy, active, chirp-filled years.

I think one of the most satisfying things in life is when you manage to get the shower to exactly the right temperature without burning all your skin off or giving yourself hypothermia
